Cardiac Cath at The Queen's Medical Center

Pre-Procedure Instructions for Cardiovascular Catheterization 

  1. Report to Pauahi Wing 3rd Floor (see Map)
  2. DO not eat anything 8 hours prior to your procedure time.
  3. No smoking for 8 hours prior to procedure, this is also recommended for after procedure. Smoking will not be allowed in the room.
  4. Ask your physician if you should take your regular medication(s) on the day of the procedure, i.e., cardiac, blood pressure, or diabetic pills.
  5. You will not be allowed to drive after your procedure, please make plans for some to accompany you home. 
  6. Do not forget any forms that you were instructed to bring to hospital by your doctor's office.
  7. Notify your cardiologist is any changes occurs in your health condition (such as fever, sore throat, cold symptoms, etc.) because we may have to reschedule your procedure.
  8. Wear comfortable clothing and slippers/shoes to the hospital on the day of your procedure. Hospital appeal will be provided.
  9. Do not bring any valuables with you to the hospital
  10. Bring a list of your medications that you are presently taking with you to the hospital.
